Yellow Thunderstorm Warnings Issued Across The UK
19 Aug 2026
After weeks of record breakingly hot weather, yellow thunderstorm warnings have now been issued across the UK, with worries that the heavy rain could lead to flash flooding.
The warnings are in place until midnight in Northern Ireland, parts of North East Scotland and the North West of England. After that, the downpours will travel to the midlands and South of England.
71.3% of England and the entirety of Wales is currently in drought, so while this rain could bring some relief, it could also lead to flash flooding due to the ground becoming compacted and water resistant in the hot weather.
