PM Exchanged Messages With Someone Posing as US Chief of Staff

It’s been reported that Prime Minister Andy Burnham messaged someone who he believed was White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, but was actually an unknown imposter. 

A government spokesperson said: "We do not comment on national security matters", but Politico reported that officials claimed only a "few messages" were exchanged before Burnham became “suspicious that the contact was illegitimate". 

Downing Street has not said what type of messages these were either, or when the exchange happened.
