Robert Downey Jr Returns
Marvel Studios has released the first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans their first full look at Robert Downey Jr. in his new role as the iconic villain Doctor Victor Von Doom.
The trailer, unveiled ahead of this week's San Diego Comic-Con, marks Downey's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe seven years after bidding farewell to Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. This time, however, he takes centre stage as the franchise's next major antagonist.
Avengers: Doomsday promises one of Marvel's biggest ensemble casts to date, bringing together heroes from across the multiverse. Returning stars include Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, and Sebastian Stan, alongside the Fantastic Four, led by Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, as well as legendary actors from the original X-Men films, including Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.
The trailer hints at a story centred on the collision of multiple universes, with Earth's mightiest heroes joining forces to face Doctor Doom in what Marvel describes as one of its most ambitious films ever. The Russo Brothers return to direct the blockbuster, which is expected to set the stage for 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers:
Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 18 December 2026, with anticipation already building among Marvel fans following the trailer's release.
