Man Charged After Death of a 9 Year Old Girl in Scotland

A man has been arrested and charged following the death of 9 year old Minnie Merriman in Scotland. 

Just after midnight on Monday August 3rd, Minnie was found seriously injured in an industrial estate close to where she and her family had been camping in Arbroath, and despite being rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, she died later that day. 

The man who’s been arrested is 35 years old and was known to Minnie, at this time the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death. The man is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court today. 

In a statement issued via Police Scotland, Minnie's family said: "We are devastated with the loss of our beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo… our family asks that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."
