Farage Resigns
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has announced he is resigning as an MP, triggering a by-election in Clacton.
He confirms he will contest the upcoming vote - which he has dubbed a "people vs establishment" election.
It comes after he said he faced a second parliamentary standards investigation into reports he failed to declare benefits-in-kind from convicted criminal George Cottrell in the year prior to him winning his Clacton seat in 2024.
He is facing another standards investigation into claims he failed to declare a £5m gift he received from the Thailand-based crypto-billionaire Christopher Harborne, also before his election as an MP.
In both cases, he insists no rules have been broke and that he has done nothing wrong.
The Reform leader says: "I repeat, I have done nothing wrong."
